Airblue Takes Flight Towards Sustainability with 'Green Skies'

LAHORE, Pakistan – Airblue, Pakistan’s leading private airline, has announced the launch of its comprehensive "Green Skies" initiative, marking a significant step toward integrating sustainable practices across its entire operational network.

Starting this month, the airline is implementing a phased plan to drastically reduce single-use plastics on all domestic and international flights. Passengers will now see eco-friendly alternatives replacing traditional plastic items. This includes the introduction of biodegradable meal packaging made from molded fiber, bamboo cutlery sets, and recycled paper cups.

"At Airblue, we recognize our responsibility to environmental stewardship," said Mr. Tariq Chaudhry, CEO of Airblue. "The 'Green Skies' initiative is not just about reducing waste; it’s about rethinking how we operate to ensure a sustainable future for the aviation industry in Pakistan and beyond. We are committed to making meaningful changes that resonate with our passengers and the communities we serve."

In addition to the cabin service changes, Airblue is investing in more fuel-efficient ground support equipment and optimizing flight paths to reduce carbon emissions. The airline also plans to introduce a voluntary carbon offset program for passengers in the near future.

The "Green Skies" program is part of Airblue’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to environmental protection and aligns with global aviation sustainability goals. The airline will continue to explore innovative solutions to minimize its ecological footprint while maintaining its hallmark high-quality service.
